Hornet Sailing Club is very privileged to have a delightful clubhouse offering members and their guests a very warm and welcoming ambience set in an historic building built in the 1940s . It was the original wardroom for HMS Hornet when the site was the base for the Fast Patrol Craft of the Coastal Defence Forces.

The club operates its Marina facilities under Licences from the Ministry of Defence who own the land and waterfront and the Marina is shared with the Joint Services Adventurous Sail Training Centre (JSASTC).
The Marina has approximately 230 berths for sailing yachts up to 40 feet LOA. Yachts are generally double berthed alongside pontoons which have fresh water and an electricity supply.

Commodore's Message
Welcome to all who visit the website of Hornet Sailing Club.
We are first and foremost a Sailing Club, run entirely for the benefit of members and we operate from a site in Haslar creek, only coincidentally co-located with the Joint Services Adventurous and Sail Training Centre. Although the Club has close affiliations with the Armed Services and the Royal Navy in particular, we are not a Ministry of Defence organisation, neither are we funded by the MoD in any way. All our running costs are met by member’s subscriptions. To have a berth at Hornet, it is necessary to meet certain conditions; the main ones being that you must be a member of the Royal Naval Sailing Association (or an affiliation), you must live locally, and, most importantly, your boat must be a sailing vessel.
We aim to keep costs to a reasonable level by prudent management and by making sure that as much as possible of the business of running the club is conducted by volunteers, including the committees which run both the day to day business and set overall policy. I hope that as many of you as possible will help in any way you can. It is, after all, your club and its success or otherwise is down to all members.
Make use of this website. It is new and if you have helpful comments on it, please make them
Good sailing
Peter Melson
